Based in the Vale of Evesham, the four founders of the company - Norman Heyes, Glenda Heyes, Pete Watson and Becky Watson - are still at the helm today, with Norman and Pete having 50 years of experience between them in the industry.

Picota bucks cherry trend with bumper season

Spanish Picota cherries have enjoyed a particularly strong season this year, with UK retailers reporting double-figure increases in sales of the fruit.

Warm and dry weather in the Jerte Valley from the beginning of June helped extend the Picota harvest, allowing supermarkets to stock the fruit for more than six weeks, a longer than average season.  

Picota cherries were supported by a promotional campaign in the major retailers, press advertising and public relations, including store radio, floor graphics, and retailer magazines and websites, as well as an information and recipe booklet with holiday offer in packs. On pack promotions included ‘Kids go free’ and the very popular ‘Free bottle of Cava’ offers.

‘Sofia’ selected for Tesco Finest Range 

Greenvale AP has launched a brand new variety of salad potato. Called Sofia, the potato has been developed in conjunction with Tesco and is available exclusively as part of the Tesco Finest range, at selected stores nationwide.

Supplied in 1kg packs, Sofia is a delicious alternative to the traditional salad potato.  Its flesh is lemon coloured and Sofia’s attractive shape and small-to-medium size are just right for the side of the plate.
